Optometry is a health care profession that is autonomous and Optometrists are primary health care practitioners of the eye and visual system who provide comprehensive eye and vision care.

The students can learn various Ophthalmology procedures like Tonometry, Keratometry, A-Scan, Auto Refractometer, Slit lamp examination etc. through hands-on practice in the associated medical college (JNUIMSRC) of the institute with a variety of case studies.

Among the types of treatment Optometrists perform are prescription of glasses, contact lenses, vision therapy, low vision aids & visual rehabilitation. Optometrists refer patients to other healthcare professionals and frequently work with them in co-managing the patient’s condition.
