Mechanical Engineering is the core branch of engineering which exists since the old ages. The invention of wheel, lever & pulleys were major breakthrough in the life of human being. Over the period of time, this branch has developed many machines & engines applying the principles of basic sciences viz. physics.
Mechanical Engineering involves creating the smallest things like needle to large things like giant machines. At JNU, the B. Tech. in Mechanical Engineering enables students to acquire skills and knowledge through practical learning and to be able to contribute to building machines that define tomorrow.
Learning Perspective
The curriculum of Mechanical engineering is well-designed to suit the needs of today’s hi-tech industries. The content of this programme focuses on the study of Computer-Aided Design and Manufacturing, Rapid Prototyping with 3-D printing, Robotics and Controls, Turbo Machinery and Combustion Systems, IC Engines, Nanomaterials and Computational Fluid Dynamics. Students are also learning principles of basic sciences to design and analyze manufacturing plants, industrial equipment, heating and cooling systems, motors, vehicles, aircrafts, ships, robots and medical devices. The Department has collaborated with various industries & professional bodies to support students in Project Work, Workshops, Seminars and Industrial Visits. Strong partnerships with industry provide opportunities for research and internships during their programme of study.
