The outcome of the one-year LLM programme is the conferment of master’s degree in Law and the name of the degree is “Master of Laws”. Students develop conceptual approaches toward understanding a particular law in respect of its purpose, enforcement, and relevance. This change in approach makes the learners good research scholars and inspires them to undertake various research projects to find out solutions to legal problems. The completion of this programme entitles the learner to appear for the teacher’s eligibility test i.e., UGC NET and the clearance of UGC NET makes the person eligible to choose teaching as a career. The students can also pursue their studies further and get enrolled for Ph.D.

Pedagogy

The University has evolved a student-centric learning approach. The methodology of imparting education adopted by the Seedling School of Law & Governance, JNU encourages the students to develop strong knowledge and skills. The School lays emphasis on Mock trials, Debate competitions, Moot court competitions, and many more for the students to develop all the requisite skills.

  • Students receive full-time classroom instruction, which helps them learn and consolidate their understanding of the subjects.. Teaching and Research lessons are provided through presentations, lectures, group discussions, case studies, moot court, seminars and project work. Reading, Writing and Research skills also get developed through class presentations and research based project assignments.
  • Integrating Theory with Practice
  • The University provides reference books, textbooks and other related books designed for independent study in the library.
  • The University updates the program structure from time to time to keep pace with the requirements of the society and prospective employers in business and industry.
  • Assignments, moots and projects will require the students to spend significant time in the Computer lab. All students will have access to a well equipped computer lab for their practical work. The students also have access to Lexis Nexis for research.
  • Moot Court Competitions- Intra and Inter
  • Internship enables the students to experience the rigors of business environment and apply the concepts learnt in classroom in real life situations in organizations.
  • Students are encouraged to pursue projects and subject moots to enhance their learning by applying theoretical concepts to real life situations in the corporate world or at any other work place.
  • Student performance in each course is assessed by means of continuous evaluation. Students will be evaluated on the basis of assignments, seminars, projects and tests.
